‘Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world.’ —Albert Einstein
Though these words come from a scientist, they are just as true for art. As an artist, I have spent years learning and refining my skills. Yet, I have realised that true creativity comes when we let our imagination soar. The best art is not just about technique but about the courage to explore without limits.
My Journey as an Art Educator
I have conducted workshops for both children and adults. Each session reveals a mix of emotions—joy, excitement, fear, and hesitation. Many focus so much on the final artwork that they forget to enjoy the creative process. Because art invites opinions, many struggle with the need for validation. I learnt that before teaching techniques, I must first help my students rediscover the joy of creating for themselves.
To do this, I use methods from my training as a neurolinguistic programming (NLP) coach. While these techniques are effective, I wanted my workshops to be engaging rather than instructional. Through constant learning and experimenting, I found new approaches. When I introduced them, the response was heartwarming—participants enjoyed the process and overcame their creative blocks.
What This Book Offers
This book is an extension of that experience. It is filled with exercises and fun activities to spark creativity. You only need a pencil or pen, some watercolours, and brushes. But remember—materials are secondary. Creativity is about using whatever is around you. If you are on a beach, draw in the sand!
Creativity needs:
✔ courage to try new things.
✔ imagination to think beyond limits.
✔ freedom to create without fear of judgement.
A Message to Parents
If you want your child to be creative, let them be. Art is not just about perfect drawings, detailed landscapes, or flawless figures. It is about self-expression, new ways of thinking, and innovation. Art builds confidence and emotional well-being. My hope is that this book helps your child embrace that journey.
Thank you.
